# Data Sources We collect dates, results, and a myriad of other types of data for elections around the world, at all levels of government. Our information comes from official government websites, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, online and print news media, national, subnational, and third-party archives, and government officials directly. We cite ALL information published and displayed on our website, social media, and other communications and we require citation of the original sources of all data without exception by our users.
Pursuant to U.S. law, election dates and facts are in the public domain. Election results, voter registration statistics, candidate information, campaign literature, and other related publicly accessible data are presumed to be in the public domain unless licensing or terms of use otherwise specify. This does not apply to sensitive materials prohibited from publication by U.S. law or GAEA policy. GAEA does not publish information if we believe it may cause personal harm to candidates, voters, or election administrators.
